Abbas brothers earn Iowa Pork Producers award

Growing up on a farm, Rick and Ryan Abbas have been raising pigs their whole life. They got their start helping their uncle who raised breeding stock - and from there, the two brothers started their own operation raising show pigs and selling seedstock, which they have done together as a team for over 30 years now.

Recently, the two brothers were honored to receive the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s Master Seedstock Producer of the Year award - an award that recognizes outstanding seedstock producers who exemplify integrity, leadership and success in the production and promotion of the purebred swine industry.

“We were pretty surprised, and honored, when we found out we got the award,” Ryan said. “This is a pretty big award and we’ve known people who received it in the past and looked up to them, so we were honored to receive it.”
