Aplington Council sworn in

At the Aplington council meeting December 13, councilmen-elect Larry Bolhuis and Brett Lage and incumbent Debra Jacobs took the oath of office, and Mayor Jason Mehmen was sworn in for his fourth term.

Retiring councilman Jerry Orr was presented a plaque in appreciation of his eight years of service to the city.

“I enjoyed it. Everybody in town should be on this board once,” Orr said. It really opens your eyes. You do a lot of things in a year.”

New council member Larry Bolhuis has lived in or near Aplington for most of his life. He served as a postmaster for 30 years, working in various towns in the area.
