Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church marks 150 years

The Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 22.

All are welcome as the morning commences with the regular service at 9:30. Fellow-ship will follow at 10:30 a.m. There will be a slideshow with photographs from throughout the church’s history shown in the sanctuary at 11 a.m., and Randy Harken will read a short history of the church.

A dinner catered by the Peppercorn Pantry will be served at 11:45 a.m. If you would like to come for the meal, RSVP by calling Julie Klahsen at 319-347-2937 or 319-415-2971.

The anniversary celebration will kick off at 1 p.m. with Tom Pollock serving as Master of Ceremonies. Makenzie Uhlen-hopp will play a prelude on the harp. Former pastors will share short stories and pleasant memories, and long-time mem-ber Lee Meyer will share testimony, memories and scripture. An alumni choir will sing. The Presbyterian Men’s Quartet will perform a selection, and Russ Meyer will sing “We Believe.” Lenee Pollock will serve as the pianist, and Judy Luhring will give a read-ing.
