Aplington-Parkersburg girls soccer undefeated at home (PHOTOS)
APLINGTON – The Aplington-Parkersburg girls soccer team has won six in a row after the Falcons won all three of their games last week and added a win against Clear Lake on Monday.
A-P defeated Iowa Falls-Alden 3-0 last Tuesday at the A-P Soccer Complex, won 10-0 in Hampton against Hampton-Dumont/CAL last Thursday and finished the week with a 3-0 win at Humboldt on Friday. Back home on Monday, A-P defeated Clear Lake 4-0 on Monday, May 13.
With four shutouts and two games with one opponent goal scored in this most recent run for Falcon girls soccer, it's a testament to A-P's quality defenders stepping up to fill in for all-state defender McKenna Tingle, who was unable to play in her senior season due to a knee injury.
Halie Petersen and Jenna Boring have been two major contributors as last lines of defense in front of goalkeeper McKenna Oldenburger.
"Jenna's had a huge role in stepping up and being a leader in the backfield," Petersen said. "She's a rock back there and we're lucky to have her there."
