BGDA launches initiative to attract young families, talent to area

The Butler-Grundy Development Alliance is teaming up with four other area development alliances to launch an extensive campaign aimed at attracting more young families and young talent to the area - and they are asking for the community’s help in their effort.

Together, the Butler-Grundy Development Alliance (BGDA) along with four other development alliances in the area, have formed the Cedar Valley Regional Partnership. This organization aims to not only bring new businesses to the area, but to help support existing businesses in the Cedar Valley region.

Jeff Kolb, director of the Butler-Grundy Development Alliance, says the number one concern he and other members of the Cedar Valley Regional Partnership (CVRP) have been hearing from area businesses is that there’s a shortage of workers to fill vacant positions.

“Talking with our existing employers in the area, the availability of workforce is the number one issue hands down,” Kolb said. “The people who already live here are working; the only way to solve this issue is to bring in more young people from outside of the area to fill these jobs, and help these local employers keep doing business here.”
