Big plays power D-NH football past A-P (PHOTOS)
PARKERSBURG – Dike-New Hartford has the pieces in place right now to make the big play happen and take opponents out of the game at critical moments.
Aplington-Parkersburg doesn't have those big playmakers solidified just yet.
But both teams saw steps forward in the 27-7 win for the Wolverines at Ed Thomas Field last Friday night, and both teams will also be looking for ways to improve as non-district play continues in Class 1A.
D-NH achieved victory in part due to two successful drives before halftime, stretching the Wolverines' lead to 20-0 on two touchdown passes from Drew Sonnenberg to Parker Kiewiet.
"Both are tremendous athletes and tremendous competitors and they've thrown and caught a lot of passes over the years," D-NH head coach Don Betts said. "Any time we can get a few balls to a special athlete like Parker, that's always a good thing."
