Building healthy habits: A-P middle schoolers take part in statewide health initiative

Last Wednesday, students at Aplington-Parkersburg Middle School joined thousands of other Iowans across the state in the 2018 annual Healthiest State Walk, which aims to improve the physical, social and emotional well-being of Iowans through different health initiatives.

Over 800 walks took place throughout Iowa’s 99 counties on Wednesday, which kick offs the month long observance of October’s “Healthiest State Month.”

In Butler County, the A-P Middle School hosted a walk, which saw all 170 middle school students plus staff walk to build a healthier state.

A-P Middle School P.E. Instructor, Alex Pollock, says the school will be working on different focuses and activities for the Healthiest State Month, but that he believes the school does a great job at promoting health all throughout the year.
