Butler County Kid Fest attracts local families

Sunny skies provided perfect weather for the 2018 Butler County Kid Fest, held on Saturday, September 22 at the fairgrounds in Allison. The annual event, sponsored by Butler County Visions of Well Being, and supported by Together 4 Families and Butler County, was well-attended by local families. This year not one, but two, helicopters were available for tour, one from Mercy Air Med, and the other from Covenant Air Med. Flight nurses and pilots talked with children and their families.

The Iowa Fireman’s Association Fire Safety House was another attraction. Firemen spoke with kids about fire safety, and the lesson culminated with a fire drill, as kids evacuated when smoke filled the trailer. Local fire departments from around the county gave kids tours of fire trucks and introduced them to fire-fighting equipment. EMS crews gave tours of ambulances, and checked kids’ blood pressure.
