Butler County Supervisors take care of business for new year

At the Butler County Supervisors meeting on Thursday, Jan. 2, Tom Heidenwirth was appointed chairman of the Board of Supervisors for 2020. Greg Barnett was appointed chairman pro-tem.

First of the year resolutions were approved. These resolutions allow county business to be conducted as normal–allowing actions such as road closures, lettings, temporary weight embargos, Farm to Market projects, prior payment of bills, signature of permits, county relief, and membership in the Iowa State Association of Counties. The Butler County Tribune-Journal, Clarksville Star, Greene Recorder and Eclipse News-Review were again named as official newspapers.

Each of the supervisors will continue to serve on the boards they served on last year. Members of various county boards were reappointed and reaffirmed, with recommendations for two new appointments, Russ Lovrien and Steve Schmadeke, to fill positions left open due to deaths.
