Carter Cuvelier signs with Northwestern College men's hoops

PARKERSBURG – Carter Cuvelier made some of his best friends and some of his best memories playing sports for Aplington-Parkersburg.

He'll turn his focus to men's basketball at the college level, signing with Northwestern College during a ceremony at Aplington-Parkersburg High School last Wednesday.

Cuvelier, a four-year starter for Falcon boys basketball, is a two-time IPSWA all-state selection in boys basketball and was a McDonald's All-American nominee in his senior season.

As a junior, he helped lead A-P to a third-place finish in the Class 2A state tournament. In his senior season, he spent most of the first half of the season recovering from an ankle injury sustained at the end of football season but ended the season averaging 16.9 points and 6.1 rebounds.

His college choices were between Wartburg and Northwestern, but the Red Raiders won out. Northwestern finished 17-13 overall last season, with an 11-9 record in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

"I have a good relationship with the players and coaches up there and thought it'd be a good fit for me," Cuvelier said of his decision process.
