Cuvelier earns all-state baseball honors

Aplington-Parkersburg baseball's Carter Cuvelier earned a spot on the third team of the Class 2A all-state teams, released by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association on Tuesday morning.

Cuvelier, chosen as a pitcher on the third team, was 6-1 on the mound in his junior season with the Falcons, allowing 10 earned runs on 42 hits in 61 innings pitched. He struck out 77 and issued just 13 walks.

At the plate, Cuvelier batted .347 with five doubles and 29 runs batted in with a .434 on-base percentage. With his defensive time split between the infield and on the mound, Cuvelier made just three errors on 160 defensive chances.
