Cyclones wallop D-NH football in non-district battle

DIKE - Dike-New Hartford head coach Don Betts knew that his 2017 squad would experience some growing pains.

 

After winning district titles in four of the last five seasons, the Wolverines graduated 15 seniors – including the state’s all-time leading rusher Trent Johnson and Iowa State recruit Ben Latusek.

 

Betts couldn’t have predicted just how thoroughly Denver would manhandle the Wolverines on Friday night, however, jumping ahead early in a 39-6 non-district victory in Dike.

 

“I expected to get punched that hard, (but) I thought we might punch back a little harder than what we did,” Betts said. “We’re going to have some ups and downs, and tonight was definitely a down—no question about it. We’ve just got to get better.”
