D-NH football wallops North Linn in battle of unbeatens

DIKE – It didn’t take long for Dike-New Hartford and running back Cade Bennett to set the tone in Friday night’s district football matchup with North Linn. And once the senior found an opening in the Lynx defense, he just kept finding them.

“The holes were amazing tonight. Our linemen did a phenomenal job. (It was a) big step up from previous games,” Bennett said.

Bennett finished with 188 yards and four total touchdowns as the Wolverines raced out to a 42-0 halftime lead and defeated North Linn 62-14 in a battle of previously unbeaten teams in Dike. D-NH improved to 5-0, dominating a contest that was expected to be their biggest challenge of the season thus far.

“I felt our kids did a great job of coming out ready to play. We talked all week about turning it up a notch because it’s district football, and we had a good quality opponent coming into our place,” D-NH head coach Don Betts said. “And I felt our kids really came out ready to work tonight.”
