D-NH's Beuter named NICL East MVP

Dike-New Hartford junior Reece Beuter earned Most Valuable Player honors in the All-NICL East Baseball Teams released last Saturday night.

Beuter was one of four D-NH players on the first team, along with Drew Sonnenberg, Parker Kiewiet and Zak Wauters. Wolverine senior Tim Koop was a second-team selection and senior Ely Sohn earned honorable mention, along with Aplington-Parkersburg's Aaron Price.

Beuter was 4-0 against NICL East opponents on the mound, allowing one earned run and 11 hits in 33 innings pitched. He struck out 50 batters with nine walks. At the plate, he hit .444 with four doubles and 15 RBI.

Price was one of the senior leaders for an A-P team in transition this summer, hitting .373 with three doubles, a triple and six RBI against league opponents. He was 2-2 in four starts on the mound, allowing eight earned runs in 18 and one-third innings with 13 strikeouts and 10 walks.

Dike-New Hartford finished as league champions for the fourth-consecutive season and the fifth time in the last six seasons, recording 12 wins to four losses and placing two games ahead of runner-up Waterloo Columbus. A-P wrapped the league in seventh place out of nine teams with a record of 4-12.
