D-NH's Foster leads NICL East girls team

Dike-New Hartford's Ellie Foster was named girls basketball player of the year in the North Iowa Cedar League East's All-Conference Teams released last week.


Foster and fellow sophomores Katie Knock and Morgan Weber all earned first-team status. Aplington-Parkersburg's Jenna Bruns was also a first-team selection.


Twin sisters Sydney Petersen and Baylee Petersen were second-team picks for the Wolverines, while Sophia Jungling represented the Falcons on the second team.


Foster averaged 14.2 points in conference play for the Wolverines and led the conference with 4.6 assists per game. She added 3.9 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game and was 35-43 (81.4 percent) from the free-throw line. Knock scored 13.7 points per game against the NICL East, with 3.3 assists, 2.8 steals per game and 15 total blocks. Weber scored 10.4 points per game and was D-NH's top rebounder at 7.7 boards per game, adding 38 steals and 33 assists.


Bruns scored 185 points in 16 conference contests, grabbing an average of 5.7 rebounds per game, in addition to 25 steals.


Baylee Petersen scored 8.9 points with 6.3 rebounds per game and Sydney Petersen averaged 8.8 points per game against division opponents. Jungling scored 9.6 points per game and led the Falcons with 51 assists and 55 steals.


D-NH head coach Bruce Dall received the NICL East's Coach of the Year award.


A-P's Jaycie Ellis and D-NH's Carlee Dove received honorable mention. Dall also recognized senior Allie Aalderks with honorable mention all-conference.
