A fun-filled Fun Days this week

If nothing else, the theme of this year’s Fun Days—“Jurassic Parkersburg”—is almost certain to grab the attention of prospective festivalgoers. But luckily, the events themselves will keep everyone entertained from Wednesday to Sunday.

“The kids are getting interest back in dinosaurs again, so we thought it would be kind of neat to have a dinosaur-themed Fun Days this year, to get them learning about history,” organizer Tasha Finch said.

It all starts Wednesday with the Parker Place 10th anniversary celebration featuring a pet show and a performance from the Tank Anthony Band at 7:00 p.m. and food from Brothers Market. Thursday night’s sole event is the crowning of Mr. and Miss Parkersburg at Parker Place.

The celebration kicks into high gear on Friday with an exhibit on Iowa’s geologic history and paint your own fossil at the Kothe Memorial Library. Bingo starts at 2, and Gotcha Games and Poker Run Golf kick off at 4:00. After work, the United Methodist Church supper begins at 5:00 along with the mayor’s fishing tournament at Schwartz Park, and Axle Deep will play on the main stage downtown for the late night crowd. The carnival rides will be new this year for both Friday and Saturday.
