Huddleson hired as A-P volleyball coach

PARKERSBURG – Erin Huddleson says she's going to give coaching one last shot.

She's taken over head-coaching duties at Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball this fall, bringing a history of playing and coaching experiences to the table for the Falcons, coming off a 6-23 season in 2017.

Huddleson fills in for Jana Surratt, who resigned after last season.

"I've been around volleyball since fourth grade and now I'm 40," Huddleson said. "It's a long journey of playing and coaching. … I wanted to see if I still have it and I think the girls have responded well."

Huddleson played for St. Bonaventure in college and had assistant coaching stints at Wheeling Jesuit and Drake's volleyball programs and has since been involved with coaching club volleyball and a brief stint with Cedar Falls' eighth-grade volleyball team.

Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball kicks off the 2018 season at home against AGWSR (1-0) on Thursday. The Cougars defeated North Butler in four sets on Monday.
