Incumbents secure primary nomination

In the primary on Tuesday, June 5, incumbent District 3 supervisor Rusty Eddy secured the Republican nomination with 376 votes to Derek Harken’s 261. Meanwhile, in District 2, incumbent supervisor Tom Heidenwirth received 181 votes over Tim Junker’s 148.

Both races drew a lot of interest in Butler County communities as yard signs throughout Aplington, Parkersburg, New Hartford, Allison and Greene attest.

And the election may not be over yet in District 2.

“I may entertain the possibility of coming back as an independent,” Tim Junker said of the upcoming general election, after thanking voters for their support.

Meanwhile, Supervisor Tom Heidenwirth pledged to continue his efforts in full force, now as the party’s nominee.

“I will continue to work for the people of Butler County at the statehouse and at the county level,” Heidenwirth said. “Continuity is important at the supervisors’ table and the statehouse. I’d like to thank voters for their support.”
