Latusek named to INA All-State Basketball 2nd Team

   Ben Latusek, a senior for the Dike-New Hartford boys’ basketball team, was named to the second team of the Class 2A Iowa Newspaper Association’s All-State Team.

   Latusek led the Wolverines with 12.2 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per contest and added 68 total assists and a team-high 24 blocked shots.

   Earlier this school year, Latusek was first-team all-state on the INA’s football team as a defensive lineman and will be a preferred walk-on at Iowa State University for the football program.

   The North Iowa Cedar League was well represented on the all-state team, with Ethan Wyant of Jesup on the first team in 2A and East Marshall’s Zane Johnson on the third team.

   In Class 1A, Joe Smoldt of Gladbrook-Reinbeck was named to the first team and was named Mr. Basketball. Nathan Karsjens of AGWSR was on the second team and Paul Rundquist of Wapsie Valley made the third team.
