Little Learners marks one year

Little Learners Childcare and Playschool in Aplington is set to mark one year on February 25.

Shelli Caquelin loves kids and started offering childcare services in Webster City 10 years ago—first of all, for her own grandchildren. She went back to school and earned degrees in Early Childhood and Human Services from Iowa Central Community College, and soon expanded to offer childcare to other families in the area.

As her own grandchildren grew up, she decided to move to Ackley and open a childcare service in Aplington.

“It’s a small town where everybody knows everybody. People are nice. … It’s a close-knit community,” said Caquelin.

She welcomes children from newborns to 12 years old, and offers a flexible care schedule to suit parents’ needs. Generally, she is open anywhere from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and every other weekend, but she also offers extended hours for parents who, for instance, need to attend classes in the evening.
