MAKING THE CUT on Main Street

After the True Value hardware store in downtown Parkersburg closed last year, Tom’s Barber Shop made the cut for the title of oldest Main Street business.

Owner Tom Teeple has been a barber for 53 years, and has served the Parkersburg community for 47 years. Although there are many beauty and barber shops in the county, only two shops in Butler County are exclusively old-fashioned barber shops, Tom’s, and Bob’s in Dumont.

Teeple now cuts hair for the grandkids of his original customers. The loyalty of his customers is what has kept him going.

“I’ve met so many interesting people,” Teeple said.
