Mehmen looks back on 2017, forward to 2018

For the residents of Aplington, 2017 was a busy year, with exciting new developments in infrastructure and community betterment.

In this special Eclipse News-Review story, Aplington Mayor Jason Mehmen looks back on the accomplishments of 2017, and looks forward to what’s in store for the community in 2018 Mehmen says one of the most significant developments in town during 2017 was an $800,000 project to make upgrades at the sewer plant.

This year, the city installed a DNR-mandated UV-light wastewater disinfection system, and also did work on the lagoons, installing new liners.

Work was also done on aerators, valves and the electrical board.
