New EMA Co ordinator hired

At the Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, June 12, the supervisors officially declared Butler County a State of Emergency due to flooding. The proclamation of Emergency was initiated Sunday, June 10, so the county could utilize state assets (HESCO barriers) as a preventative measure.

Supervisor Greg Barnett mentioned that a new EMA coordinator has been hired for Butler County. Chris Showalter of Dumont will begin in the position this week.

“He’s a good guy, a dirt-roller, get stuff done type of guy…” Barnett said. “I think he will do a good job.”

Showalter has a wealth of experience from serving on the fire department. Barnett said he stood out in the interview and answered all the questions well.
