New Hartford library director retires

New Hartford library director Sue Meyer retired on Oct. 12 after working at the library since 2010 and serving as director since 2012.

Rumor has it that the day after she retired, she was on a plane, heading out to work on her bucket list.

So far, she’s gone skydiving, snorkeling, parasailing and zip-lining and taken a trip to Jamaica. But she’s called New Hartford home for the past 40 years, and that isn’t changing any time soon. Every so often, you’ll still find her helping out at the library.

“New Hartford has a wonderful bunch of people,” Meyer said.

She fights back tears when she thinks about the wonderful friendships she has built with library patrons—who’ve always trusted her to pick out books to suite their individualized tastes.
