A-P board chooses leaders, discusses facilities needs

PARKERSBURG - The Aplington-Parkersburg school board choose Jill Kalkwarf to serve another term as board president and discussed facility needs with an architect from ISG during Monday night’s regular meeting.

Kalkwarf was re-elected president of the board by a unanimous vote, and Amy Truax will serve as vice president. Truax and Dave Schneiderman were sworn in after being re-elected to the board, and first time candidate Deb Grandon was sworn in to replace Lisa Ellis, who did not seek re-election after serving for four years.

Later in the meeting, an architect from ISG presented findings from the most recent facilities assessment and pointed out some needs, including windows and the roof at Parkersburg elementary, general upkeep on an older building like the Aplington elementary/middle school, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and asbestos removal where necessary.
