A-P, D-NH seniors play in all-star games

REINBECK – Aplington-Parkersburg's Junior Bodden wanted to make the most of his final game in an A-P jersey.

The second-year foreign-exchange student from Honduras scored 22 points to lead the NICL East to a 93-80 victory over the NICL West in the North Iowa Cedar League's Senior All-Star Games held in Reinbeck on Friday night.

Bodden was named the NICL East's MVP of the Game and went on to share the dunk contest title with Grundy Center's Joe Johnson.

"It's way amazing for this to be my last game," Bodden said. "I wanted to make sure that I enjoy this last one."

After flushing his first in-game dunk in the second half of Friday's game, Bodden was able to survive a dunk contest where the participants were high on creativity, even if the rate of success in executing the dunk wasn't always on point.

Bodden's only make was on a lob to himself, but he had some close calls on an off-the-wall dunk and an attempt at leapfrogging over Dike-New Hartford's Tim Koop for a dunk.

"I practiced those all weekend," Bodden said. "My host brother Owen Thomas told me that I would get those dunks down, that he believed in me."
