A-P sends off 54 graduates

Speakers at Sunday afternoon's graduation ceremony at Aplington-Parkersburg High School expressed familiar themes of understanding that post-high school life will be a new start, while stressing the importance of remembering where you came from.

The Class of 2019 gathered with friends and family in the A-P High School gymnasium Sunday to reflect on the class motto: "Don't ever be afraid to branch out. Always be yourself, and never forget where you came from."

As the 10th class to graduate from the high school after it was rebuilt following the tornado, A-P principal Aaron Thomas emphasized the importance of the title of "A-P Alumni" to begin his remarks to graduates.

"After today you must start anew, you must re-establish who you are, what you want to be," Thomas said. "I challenge you to think and understand that your academic, athletic, and fine arts accomplishments will stay here, but the hard work, the dedication and the discipline along the way will be the things you take with you."
