A-P Soccer Complex reflects dedication of Falcon girls

Not too long ago, the fate of Aplington-Parkersburg girls soccer was unclear.

The sharing program with Grundy Center had come to an end ahead of the 2016 season and A-P was in need of numbers.

Those dedicated to the sport, including Kyla Sill, McKenna Tingle and Avari Everts, stepped up their recruiting efforts to make sure Falcon soccer could continue on.

The 2016 season was difficult, a 5-9 campaign. But the Falcons have achieved three winning seasons since, including reaching double-digit wins this spring.

This year was the first time that the girls had something they could call their own, the A-P Soccer Complex. The old field at Aplington was given a fresh coat of paint, including a new scoreboard and new measures in place to make the facility more handicap-accessible, which included a new set of bleachers for the fans.

Since the remodel began, the Falcons have yet to lose at the A-P Soccer Complex, achieving a perfect 6-0 record in Aplington this season.

At the entrance of the Complex is a new sign, too, with an inscription on the bottom: "In Memory of Mike Campbell".
