A-P volleyball sees progress at home round robin (PHOTOS)

PARKERSBURG – The Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball team saw growth through competition last Saturday at the Falcons' home tournament at Aplington-Parkersburg High School.

The Falcons finished fifth in the seven-team round-robin tournament with a final record of 2-4. A-P defeated Belle Plaine and Nashua-Plainfield in straight sets. The Falcons pushed NICL East foes Wapsie Valley and Denver in three-set matches, and fell to ranked opposition from West Delaware and Grundy Center in straight sets.

A-P head coach Erin Huddleson indicated that the missing link for the Falcons resides in a couple of go-to attackers that can reliably finish at the net.

"Our passers were about 95-percent accurate on Saturday. We're digging a lot of balls but there's not enough girls putting it away," Huddleson said. "We need two or three girls out there that we can set to and know it's going to get put away."
