Parkersburg citizens to vote on hotel/motel tax Nov. 7

On Nov. 7, Parkersburg voters will consider implementing hotel/motel tax.

If approved, a tax equaling 7 percent of a guest’s stay at a hotel or motel in the city would be added to the bill at checkout.

Money generated by the tax can be used to fund city infrastructure improvements, construction projects for municipal buildings, monuments and parks and facilities at recreational areas.

Fifty percent of funds generated can be used for recreational purposes, where the other half can be used for public purposes such as towards the police department and library.
