Parkersburg Hardware opens on Highway 57

When the True Value store in downtown Parkersburg shut down at the end of June, the community feared that it might not be replaced. Enter local native John Luhring and former True Value employee Brenda Meester, and Parkersburg Hardware was born. Less than a year later, it’s already up and running at its Highway 57 location in the same building as Luhring Monuments and IWireless.

“The town still had a need for hardware services and supplies, and we just hope to bring that service to the community—just in a different location,” Luhring said. “And having Brenda with us will be a crucial asset to our success.”

Luhring saw a golden opportunity with the closing of the old store, and he’ll be sharing space with his parents, Marty and Larry. Between the three of them, John’s brother Chris (the Parkersburg city administrator) and his sister Bradi Johnson— all of whom still reside in their hometown—the family’s roots in the community run deep.
