A-P/GC wrestler Johnson wins at Humboldt

Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center's Nick Johnson was the top 170-pounder at last Friday's Joe Fitch Invitational at Humboldt.

The Falcons fielded just four wrestlers, finishing eighth in the team standings. Zach Klahsen was fourth at 113 pounds.

Johnson defeated Braxden Scott of Humboldt by pinfall and Payton Fewson of Atlantic and Ben Saxton of Emmetsburg by decision to advance to the championship match.

In the title bout, Johnson pinned Evan Ball of Sheldon-South O'Brien in the first period.

Klahsen won his first-round match against Humboldt's Dylan Vaudt by fall and received a bye to the semifinals, but lost by a second-period pinfall against Atlantic's Aybren Moore. In the third-place match, Sheldon-South O' Brien's Osvaldo Ocampo pinned Klahsen in the third period.
