Resident petitions to audit the City of New Hartford

Former New Hartford city council member Raymond Mobley, who resigned from the council earlier this year due to health issues, presented the council with a petition calling for an audit of the city’s finances.

Mobley spoke during Wednesday night’s meeting, explaining how he gathered 90 signatures for the petition from residents who support an audit of the city.

“We want to know why there’s no money for roads and sidewalks,” he said. “At the park, there’s no sidewalk that goes through there, so people with wheelchairs can’t get around over there to watch the kids play.”

Mobley also alleged that the fire department has been trying to get plumbing and water in the building for three years, and wondered if it hadn’t been done because of lack of funds.

TJ Eden of Eden Plumbing, who handles some of that work for the city, replied to Mobley that he had been asked to do it, but hadn’t gotten around to it yet.
