Room to improve: Loss to Lynx shows A-P's work ahead

CEDAR RAPIDS – If all goes to plan, Aplington-Parkersburg and North Linn could very well meet in another big arena in the months to come.

But Saturday's 83-59 loss to North Linn at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids left the Falcons with work to do to raise their game to the Lynx's level.

A-P's seven-game winning streak came to an end as the Falcons fell to 10-3, and the undefeated Lynx, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A by the Associated Press, improved to 12-0 overall. The game was part of the first session of the Wells Fargo Advisers Shootout.

"We shot well in a big arena, and hopefully this gets us hungry," A-P head coach Aaron Thomas said. "It exposed some of the things we need to work on – we know we need to get better defensively, be a bit more aggressive offensively and not settle. These are the things we're trying to work on."
