Speedy Jungling 6th at Drake (PHOTOS)

DES MOINES – Sophia Jungling can add to her medal collection after last Friday's night performance at the Drake Relays.

The Aplington-Parkersburg junior scored her second Drake Relays medal with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run, shattering her own school record with a 2:11.98 finish on the Blue Oval in Des Moines.

"I knew it was going to be a crazy fast field," Jungling said, "and starting on the outside of the track on the second waterfall, I knew I had to get out fast to get into that top group. I got out there with them and from there just tried to maintain my spot."

Jungling now has the best time in 2A by nearly 10 seconds over the nearest competition of Mid-Prairie's Marie Hostetler. She also finished sixth as a sophomore in the 1,500.

Aplington-Parkersburg senior Morgan Knock finished seventh in the long jump at the Drake Relays with a best jump of 21 feet, 5.5 inches. A-P senior Junior Bodden finished 18th in the high jump after clearing 6-1 and freshman teammate Jayden Mackie recorded no height in the high jump.
