Angela Kaye Miller, 54

Angela Kaye Miller, age 54, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of Alvin and Verla (Vietor) Miller, on June 29, 1970, in Hampton, Iowa.  They were richly blessed with a beautiful and perfect daughter who would have special needs.  God does nothing without purpose – everything is a perfect plan.  Through her, we learned precious lessons in faith, hope and love.

Angie attended classes in various schools in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area.  Angie later became a resident of the Woodward Resource Center (WRC) at Woodward, Iowa.  Angie was baptized at the First Congregational Church where in her younger years she attended services regularly with her family.  Angie loved to sing and still knew many of the songs she learned while attending Sunday School and Church.

Everyone loved Angie for her singing, her smile, her personality, and her great sense of humor. While at WRC, Angie enjoyed outings to the pool, eating out, the zoo, and movies.  She also enjoyed singing, music, puzzles and watching MeTV, game shows and sports.  Angie looked forward to her family coming regularly to take her on an outing.  On these visits, she enjoyed visiting various parks to grill and enjoy some of her favorite foods.  Eating out followed by a long trip in the car was another favorite of hers.

Angie passed away at Grand JiVanté in Ackley, on May 20, 2025.  Angie fought so courageously through numerous health battles in recent years, but in God’s perfect time with her family at her side, she was called to her heavenly home.  Angie was truly a blessing and will be greatly missed.  Thank you to the staffs of Grand JiVanté and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care and support these last five months.  Angie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Earl and Alice (Van Heiden) Vietor; and her paternal grandparents, Oscar and Hannah (Bergman) Miller.

Angie is survived by her parents, Alvin and Verla Miller of Parkersburg: two brothers, Daran Miller of North English, and Dalen Miller and his wife Holly of Dike, one nephew, Weston Miller of Muscatine; four nieces, Casey Tinnes of Cedar Rapids, Vivian Miller of Cedar Rapids, Elizabeth Karsjens and Margaret Karsjens, both of Dike.  She is also survived by an uncle, aunts and cousins.

We are so grateful to the staff at WRC for the love and wonderful care Angie received over the years.  A special thank you to the staff at Woodward Medical Center who provided superb loving care for Angie.  We so appreciate our social worker for many years, Terri Hudson.  A special thank you to our social worker, Sara Nguyen.  Both of you always kept an open line of communication and were so supportive.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg, with Pastor B.J. Humphrey officiating.  The organist was Mary Ann Simon and she accompanied the congregation as they sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Old Rugged Cross”.  Kevin Paar provided special music as he sang “On Eagles Wings” and “The Lord’s Prayer”.  The burial was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg, with Nathan Garbes, Joe Brokaw, Patrick Smith, Steve Wicks, Jeff Johnson and Wayne Johnson serving as Casketbearers.  The Honorary Casketbearer was Richard Humphrey.

Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Services – Parkersburg Funeral Home.  Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later time.  Online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
