Drought conditions worsen slightly in Iowa; no drought in Butler County

The latest report of Iowa’s drought conditions shows no drought conditions in Butler County, although the rest of the state is seeing more of a drought compared to the week prior.

​The report from the U.S. Drought Monitor lists 49 percent of the state in at least some state of drought, with 14 percent in at least moderate drought, 7.3 percent in at least severe drought and 2.4 percent in at least extreme drought. 

​This is an overall drought increase of 2.5 percent from last week’s report.

​The areas with the most drought are in northwest Iowa. The nearest counties with at least some reports of drought conditions are Franklin County to the west and Tama County to the south.
