Falcon boys handle Cougars

PARKERSBURG – Owen Thomas scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in Aplington-Parkersburg's 56-35 win over Sumner-Fredericksburg at A-P High School last Tuesday.

The Falcons (7-1) host Waukee, the top-ranked team in Class 4A, at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. A-P returns to NICL East action against Waterloo Columbus in Parkersburg on Jan. 5.

Jayden Mackie added 10 points and five rebounds for the victors. Garrett Hempen scored nine points with four assists and four steals.

The Falcons forced 20 Sumner-Fredericksburg turnovers. A-P led 21-13 at halftime.

Kody VanEngelenburg led the Cougars with 13 points.
