Hughes to give art talk at Kothe Memorial Library

Artist Julie Hughes of Parkersburg, whose work is currently on display at the Parkersburg Public Library, will give an art talk at the library at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13.

Hughes’ abstract art is inspired by landscapes, including the scenery in the Aplington-Parkersburg, Grundy and Cedar Valley areas. She generally paints on canvas with acrylics, but occasionally works with mixed media materials, graphite, soft pastels and paper as well.

At the art talk, Hughes looks forward to sharing the inspiration behind her work, giving an overview of her art practices and techniques, and most of all, getting to know the Parkersburg community.
