James “Jim” Carl Swenson, 45

James “Jim” Carl Swenson, age 45, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Dena Bertram and Craig Swenson on December 8, 1977, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Jim lived in the Parkersburg area his entire life and has many friends in the area. He graduated from Aplington-Parkersburg High School in 1996. 

After graduation he married Billie Druvenga and to this union two children were born, daughter, Malea and son, Isaac. The couple later divorced. Jim loved his kids and wanted them to enjoy the outdoors as much as he did. It was easy to find them down at the dam fishing. 

Jim worked many jobs after high school including a plumber in both Arizona and Tennessee and a roofer in the Aplington-Parkersburg and Cedar Valley area. In the last few years, he worked at John Deere, Heartland Windows, and Trinity Industries. 

In his spare time Jim loved spending time outdoors. He loved cutting trees, fishing, hunting, and shooting. He won Nationals for sporting clays. Jim especially loved the time spent with his family and friends.

On Friday, June 23, 2023, Jim passed away at his home in Parkersburg, of natural causes. He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Bertram; grandmother, Jean Swenson; and uncle, Kavin Fagerlind. 

Jim is survived by his daughter, Malea Swenson of Parkersburg, Iowa; son, Isaac Swenson of Parkersburg, Iowa; mother, Dena Bertram of Dike, Iowa; father, Craig (Becky) Swenson of Denver, Iowa; sister, Wendy (Tony) Everts of Aplington, Iowa; step brothers, Nate Bertram of Aplington, Iowa, Josh (Jess) Bertram of Parkersburg, Iowa, and Rob (Michelle) Bertram of Virginia Beach, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Kiresten & Josh of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Cameron, Laynee, and Madalyn of Parkersburg, Iowa, Tyler, Nikolas, Liliana, and Abigail of Aplington, Iowa, and Cadance, Mason, Chase, and Layton of Aplington, Iowa; great nephew, Salem of Kokomo, IN; aunt & uncle, Mark (Jan) Swenson of Waterloo, Iowa; and cousin, Kara (Derrick) Marts of Oklahoma. 

Celebration of Life will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.., Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Parkersburg Civic Center in Parkersburg.
