Jessie Peters, 95

Jessie Peters, age 95, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of George G. and Anna (Miller) Schipper on January 25, 1930, on a farm near Allison, Iowa. She was baptized on June 16, 1930, at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington. Jessie received her education from a Ripley Township country school in Butler County.
Jessie was united in marriage with Louis Peters on January 22, 1950, at the Trinity Church parsonage in Allison, Iowa, by Rev. John DeVries. Jessie worked as a caring and hard-working farmwife to her husband Louis in rural Aplington. She also enjoyed helping with the finish work, painting & staining to newly built homes with a good friend and neighbor for many years.
Jessie was a lifetime member of Bethel Reformed Church. Through the years she enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and canning. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren activities, as well as sports. She also enjoyed scratching lottery tickets, as well as going to the casinos. Jessie will be remembered for making the best of every situation and her gift of making each person feel special. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family. Jessie loved visiting with family and many friends whether over the phone or meeting for coffee or tea. Jessie was a very outgoing and loving lady.
Early Christmas morning December 25, 2025, Jessie passed away at Creekside Living Cottages & Villa’s in Grundy Center, Iowa, from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Peters on August 2nd, 2009; son, Gerald Peters; grandson, Easton DeVries; her parents; four sisters, Annie (Vern) Prange, Esther (Harm) Krull, Violet (Herman) Kappel, and Pearl Schipper; six brothers, Harm (Janet) Schipper, John (Marie) Schipper, Andrew (Sharon) Schipper, Bennie (JoAnne) Schipper, George (Grace) Schipper, and one in infancy.
Jessie is survived by three daughters, Marge (Vern) DeVries of Aplington, Lou (Al) Stockdale of Parkersburg, and Lori (Wes) Bantz of Fairbank; daughter-in-law, Sandy Peters of Parkersburg; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jessie were held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday December 30, 2025, at Bethel Reformed Church in Aplington. Pastor Treye Schupbach officiated the service and Justin Stockdale shared special memories. The pianist was Randy Aalderks, and he sang” Where the Roses Never Fade”, “There’s a Phone in Heaven”, and “One Day at a Time”. Burial was held at Bethel Reformed Cemetery in rural Aplington with Darian DeVries, Jay DeVries, Justin Stockdale, Matt Stockdale, Jared DeVries, Clint Peters, Greg Stockdale, Neil Meester, Dustan DeVries, Josh Peters, Chuck Stockdale, and Tyrus Meester serving as Casketbearers. Honorary Casketbearers were Jodi Vogt, Marci Taylor, and Jessical Robinson.
Visitation was held before the services on Tuesday, at Bethel Reformed Church in Aplington from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family.
