Low-scoring quarter downs Falcon girls

PARKERSBURG – The Aplington-Parkersburg girls scored just one point in the third quarter of a 40-24 loss to Sumner-Fredericksburg at A-P High School last Tuesday.

A-P plays Waterloo Columbus at home next Tuesday.

The Cougars outscored the Falcons 16-1 in the third quarter to break open what was a three-point game, 17-14 Sumner Fredericksburg, at halftime.

Ellie Etjen scored seven points with seven rebounds to lead A-P in both categories. Kaitlin Cuvelier and Lily Hovenga added six points each. The Falcons shot 7-of-44 from the floor on Tuesday, including 5-of-20 from 3-point range.

Morgan Brandt led Sumner-Fredericksburg with 12 points and 16 rebounds.
