APLINGTON – Attendees at the next free-will donation luncheon fundraiser for the Aplington pool project will also have the opportunity to give feedback on initial pool designs and concepts for the project.

The Aplington Recreation Center (ARC) will host the luncheon from Feb. 12, lasting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pulled pork will be served along with sides, a drink and cookie; and kids can get a hotdog meal - there are also to-go options. All are welcome.

One Design & Engineering, LLC is producing the design options for the Aplington pool, their contract approved by the city council in January. The engineer overseeing the project has been designing pools in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa for over 20 years.

The design process and scope of the contract is expected to take 6-8 weeks until the completion of a final design and concept.

The fundraiser is currently at $335,814.87 raised, with a goal of $3 million dollars. Once the final design is determined, the fundraiser will continue until there are enough funds to move to the next stage of construction, with a goal of breaking ground in fall of 2023. The committee is also pursuing several grants related to funding this project as well.
