Construction is underway on a new splash pad in New Hartford with hopes of being ready by the end of the summer season.

New Hartford Mayor Dennis Canfield broke ground on the splash pad on Sunday, May 15 as families and community members commemorated the official start of construction with a ribbon cutting and T-ball and soft toss games.

In a post on Facebook, New Hartford City Clerk Shawna Hagen thanked those who have contributed to the progress on the Splash Pad project, including a recent $30,000 grant received from the Helen & Max Guernsey Foundation that has allowed the city to begin construction on the splash pad.

Fundraising will continue as costs rise on the installation project. Donations are still being accepted to be included on signage with a $100 minimum donation. A complete list of donors is available at City Hall.
