New Hartford welcomes new library director

New Hartford has a new library director, and there’s no place she’d rather be than surrounded by books.

Meet Maggie Averill, a lover of literature. Averill enjoys reading mystery, romance, and everything in between.

“It’s a great way to escape, and if you read a lot of nonfiction, you can learn a lot of different kinds of things. I love books— flipping the pages,” Averill said.

Reading, she believes, can help kids grow into the adults they become, and give older readers a chance to relax after a hard day’s work.

The library has books appropriate for all ages, from children’s books to youth fiction, young adult and adult reading.

“There’s a really big selection,” Averill said.
