A-P kicks off Homecoming Week

Falcon pride is abundant this week as Aplington-Parkersburg High School kicks off their Homecoming Week with a host of special activities.

The week starts out with several themed Spirit Days at the school: Wednesday is Wild Wild West Wednesday, Thursday is Groutfit/Denim Day and Friday is Falcon Spirit Day. The community is invited to join in on the Spirit Days by dressing up as well.

Thursday, the community is invited to attend the Homecoming Coronation at the High School Auditorium at 7 p.m., followed by the Powder Puff Football Game.

Friday afternoon is the annual Homecoming Parade on Main Street at 2 p.m., followed by a Pep Rally back at the school. All of this leads up to the big game starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night, where A-P will face off against Iowa Falls-Alden.

A-P High School Principal Aaron Thomas says Homecoming Week is always a great time, with a lot of support and involvement from the entire community.

“There’s always a lot of pride on Homecoming Week,” Thomas said. “The kids are decorating the halls and their floats, then we have the coronation to kick things off, and of course it always leads up to the game on Friday night. We always do our best to represent the pride we have in our school and the community.”
