UPDATE: The boil order has been lifted. The original story appears below.

---

An area of New Hartford is impacted by a boil order issued by the City of New Hartford Water Supply on Thursday, April 23. The water supply had a problem in the distribution system leading to pressure loss.

The area includes all of Beaver Street, Packwaukee Street to York Street, east to Broadway/U Avenue, north to the New Hartford school and west back to Packwaukee Street.

It is recommended that water be boiled before using for drinking or cooking, or that an alternative source be used, due to the potential for bacterial contamination. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using.

For more information, contact the City of New Hartford Maintenance Department at 319-983-2703.

The system has been repaired, repressured, and bacteria samples will be collected. The affected area will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
