On Sunday afternoon, the 2020 A-P High School graduating class were celebrated for their completion of school with a “Senior Graduation Drive.” More than sixty vehicles snaked along roadways beginning in Aplington, and ending in Parkersburg. Police and emergency vehicles led the way as the parade of graduating seniors waved at spectators from their windows and sunroofs, receiving the recognition for a job well done for finally reaching the summit of their years of education.

Everyone involved seemed to be enjoying the festivities as well. Some students threw candy, or shouted their greetings to watchers. There were returning exclamations of, “we love you,” and, “congratulations,” as the Class of 2020 made their victory lap across the two cities.

“I think it’s very important to give them our support,” said Kari Stiegl, a spectator who’d driven from Waterloo to view the event, “they are graduating in probably the most difficult time in a long time. It’s a lot of pressure, and they should know we’re proud of them.”

The official graduation date for seniors is slated for June 19, and will be held at the Aplington-Parkersburg football field.
