Rodney “Rod” Dale Mulder, 71

Rodney “Rod” Dale Mulder, age 71, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Richard Henry and Ethel Mae (Spieker) Mulder, on February 24, 1954, in Waterloo, Iowa. Rod graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1973.
Rod lived his whole life in Parkersburg. He worked for 44 years at Viking Pump in Cedar Falls and retired in 2017. After his retirement, he did custom lawn care and drove the school bus for Aplington- Parkersburg and other area districts.
Rod was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg where he served as an usher, Sunday School superintendent and a deacon. In the summer, Rod enjoyed helping the Amish community with bailing hay and he also took them shopping. He loved the delicious foods they shared with him. Rod was a high school booster and enjoyed their athletics, especially basketball. He appreciated his time spent with his friends going out for coffee. Rod loved cruising around in his John Deere Gator.
Rod died on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Creekside Living in Grundy Center, Iowa. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ethel Mae Mulder on May 25, 2008; and one sister, Martha Kay Mulder of May 24, 1968.
Rod is survived by four daughters, Katie, Sarah, Melinda and Laura; three brothers, David (Betty) Mulder of Parkersburg, Dennis (Lynne) Mulder of Aplington and Gaylen (Carla) Mulder of Parkersburg; eight nieces and nephews, Mike, Mark, Steve, Brett, Aaron, Rebecca, Diana and Elena.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg, with Pastor Russell Boersma officiating. Organist was Angie Meester and she accompanied the congregation as they sang “The Storm Passes By” and “How Great Thou Art”. Special music was provided by Elena Mulder as she sang “The Lord’s Prayer”. The burial was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg with Jon Uhlenhopp, Jeff Jacobsen, Derek Harken, Kenny Meester, Duane Alberts and Dean Wessels serving as Casketbearers.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Monday, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Services – Parkersburg Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the A-P Dollars for Scholars. Online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
