Seven vie for 2020 Miss Parkersburg crown

Judging for Miss Parkersburg will be Friday, Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Legend Trail Golf Course, and the coronoation will be Saturday, Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at MidWestOne Bank. The winners of the Iowa State Bank Little Mr. and Miss Parkersburg contest will be crowned prior to the Miss Parkersburg crowning. A fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. on the 15th at All-Play Ball Park, presented by the Parkersburg Chamber of Commerce.

Maci Freund

Civic Activities: Volunteer at the food bank and Legion Meals

Volunteer Activities: I volunteer at my church with 4-6-year-olds and I went on a Mission Trip.

Future plans: I am going to go to college to run cross country and track and field and major in Health and Science to become either a Radiologist or a Nutritionist. 

Alexis Hoogestraat

Parents: Adam and Laci Hoogestraat

School Activities: Honor Society, Choir, Archery, large group speech, individual speech, tennis, spring play, and fall musical

Civic Activities: RCYF youth group and work at Iowa State Bank

Volunteer Activities: Race of Remembrance, Race for the Zoo, Prairie Lakes Church Nursery, Sunrise Exchange Zoo, and A-P Food Pantry.

Future Plans: Finish my Junior and Senior year at A-P High School then continue on to the University of Northern Iowa to get my BA degree in Elementary Education.

Seyann Luhring

Parents: Chris and Elicia Luhring

School Activities: Ed Thomas Leadership Academy, FFA, Basketball, and Track

Civic Activities: Albion Dandy Dozens 4H Club for 9 years serving in several leadership positions within the club and many community service activities during each of those years. 

Volunteer Activities: Parkersburg Avenue of the Flags, Parkersburg Fun Days, Camp Koinonia Church Camp counselor, leader at First Congregational Church Shine and now Gems and Brigades Wednesday night children's programs, children's Sunday school assistant teacher, youth praise team, and youth pastor search committee. 

Future Plans: I plan to finish my Associate of Arts Degree at Hawkeye Community College and then transfer to the University of Northern Iowa for Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. 

Elizabeth Moore

School Activities: Football and Basketball Cheerleading, Drill Team, Secretary for the A-P FFA, Tennis, A-P Honor Society.

Civic Activities: Youth Group, Adopt a Family for Christmas, Served meals for hospitality after church, Taught Sunday school classes, Hosted suppers for church, Hosted Easter egg hunts, Camp Koinonia leader

Volunteer Activities: Dressed up as the Easter Bunny for an Easter egg hunt, Delivered meals to the elderly

Future Plans: Go to a Community College then transfer to a Medical School and practice Behavioral Doctoring and Health.

Sommer Stotler

Future Plans: Attend Hawkeye Community College for Nursing and then transfer to Allen for BSN and possibly go on for a Nurse Anesthetist or Nurse Practioner.

Elena Mulder
